Welcome to Silver Base!
Miss Wells, Mrs Price and Mr Fox WELCOME you.
We are a bespoke Nurture provision that helps to meet children’s specific needs. We will help children to settle into school life, fill gaps in their learning, build confidence, enhance social skills and guide children to regulate their emotions.
We cover phonics and spelling, reading, English and Maths in the morning as well as having time for Brunch where the children learn life skills in food preparation, setting the table and tidying up afterwards in addition practising social skills; sitting together, talking together and enjoying each other’s’ company while we eat.
During the afternoons, we provide for three different groups: Nurture, KIT (keeping in touch) and a Building Confidence, Resilience and Self-Esteem group. Here we provide a curriculum for children that supports their learning, needs and development. We take part in RSHE sessions and team building activities, consider how to be a good citizen, we practise our life skills including cooking, sewing and First Aid, and we also follow programs that help to develop communication, social, processing and organisation skills, for example Lego Therapy, Barrier games and Theraplay.
Half Term One
Wow! The first term has flown by!
We have been busy settling into Silver Base, building new friendships and working hard.
The children are so proud of their behaviour and their learning that they completed so far.
We have been practising our maths skills - counting carefully; learning about tens and ones; thinking about the value of digits in larger numbers; and comparing the value of different numbers.
In English, we have been improving our basic skills - thinking about our letter formations and some children even joining letters; segmenting and blending so we can read and spell words all by ourselves; and practicing reading our key words every day and starting to remember them, even the trickiest ones!
We are also spending lots of time together having fun, sharing and taking turns and learning how to work together as a team supporting each other and helping each other to succeed in our learning and playing.
